About 3rd Grade
Third grade is an exciting year filled with growing learning opportunities. Our heart is to see students grow in their responsibility skills and character development. We focus on math facts and mastering multiplication in third grade. We also discover more about the solar system and the Civil War while expanding our writing and vocabulary skills. We travel through the Bible, highlighting the stories of Jesus and learn to apply them to our personal lives.

Stages of the Moon
In Science Center students conduct experiments to expand their learning in the classroom. For this lesson, students are creating the stages of the moon using Oreos.
Planets
In 3rd grade we learn about the solar system and space exploration. Students create a planet model as we dive into learning more the world around us.
Skittle Math!
Multiplication facts are a huge component of 3rd grade. We learn more about multiplication by practicing math facts, playing games, and using manipulatives. Students used Skittles to find the products in this activity.
Bottle Buddies
Students completed a biography project where they read, learned, and wrote about a famous person’s life. They each created a bottle buddy to represent their person.

In 3rd grade we dive into chapter books and exploring the world around us through stories. We expand our comprehension by reading independently, in groups, and as a class.

Our Teachers
Miss DONAHUE
Miss Sarah Donahue, a CMCS alumni, joined the Calvary staff in 2015. She has a Bachelor of Arts and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Hope International University. This is Miss Donahue’s sixth year of teaching third grade here at Calvary. She is organized, patient, and passionate about teaching. Miss Donahue goes above and beyond to help her students reach their goals and pours God’s love into them. We are blessed to have her on our Calvary staff.

Miss Thompson joined our staff in 2018. She was a graduate of Calvary Murrieta in 2002 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from Concordia University. Miss Thompson has taught fourth grade and is currently teaching third grade. She aims to engage all of her students through creative instruction and has a heart of humility. Miss Thompson inspires her students to strive for Christ-like character.
