About Junior High English
Junior High English is about learning to appreciate literature and mastering the fundamentals of writing and grammar. Throughout the school year, students explore different units such as short stories, creative writing, novels, poetry, grammar, essay writing, and oral presentations.
Seventh grade literature explores more global authors while eight grade focuses more on American texts. It is our goal to use literature not only to improve reading comprehension skills, but also to teach empathy and encourage students to view the world through another’s eyes. Students also master the basics of MLA formatting, research, proper citation, and are given the opportunity to participate in community-sponsored essay competitions.
By the end of the year, students should have been prepared with a well-rounded balance of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language skills. We hope their experiences in English class encourage students to be life-long readers with excellent communication skills!

Mr. Summers
Mr. Micah Summers is one of our awesome Bible teachers! With experience as a classroom teacher and years of youth ministry experience, we are excited he has the opportunity to teach and disciple our Jr. High students. He attended Providence Christian College in Pasadena with a degree in Liberal Arts, with concentrations in Education and English. His favorite part about being an educator is meeting students where they are at, showing them how powerful stories are, and helping them discover the ways literature points us to the Gospel—the most powerful story of all.
